Things to Do in Córdoba in a Weekend: A Local's Guide

Two days, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and more to see than fits in a weekend. Here is what truly deserves your time.

Saturday morning: the Mosque and the Jewish Quarter

Start early. The Mosque-Cathedral first thing in the morning is a different experience — no tour groups, no queues, with light streaming through the arches. Give it at least an hour. Then cross into the Jewish Quarter: the Synagogue (one of only three preserved in Spain), the Calleja de las Flores, the Casa de Sefarad. Everything is less than five minutes on foot.

On Calle Almanzor, right in the Jewish Quarter, you will find us. If you want to save the Arab baths for the afternoon — when your body will thank you for the pause — keep walking. If you cannot wait, our door is open from ten.

Saturday afternoon: the water

After lunch, when your legs begin to tire and the Córdoba sun beats down, it is the perfect time for two hours of hammam. Four pools, steam, flotation, and if you wish, a massage. You leave at six or seven in the evening with a different body and fresh energy for the night.

Saturday night: tapas and Córdoba by night

Córdoba's gastronomy deserves an article of its own, but in short: salmorejo (not gazpacho), flamenquín, aubergines with honey, and oxtail when in season. The Jewish Quarter and surrounding streets have excellent restaurants. Afterwards, walking across the Roman Bridge with the illuminated Mosque behind you is one of those images that justify the trip.

Sunday morning: the Alcázar and the river

The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and its gardens deserve a leisurely visit. Then head down to the Guadalquivir: the Sotos de la Albolafia, the watermill, the riverside promenade. If you visit in spring, the Córdoba patios festival (May) is unmissable.

Sunday midday: Medina Azahara

If you have a car, Medina Azahara is 15 minutes away — the 10th-century palatine city built by Abd al-Rahman III. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2018. Allow at least two hours. If you do not have a car, there is a tourist bus from the centre.

Where to sleep

For the complete experience, our guesthouse sits directly above the Arab baths, in the heart of the Jewish Quarter. It includes hammam access throughout your stay. You go to sleep 30 seconds from the pools and 3 minutes from the Mosque.
